HITLAB ANNOUNCES NASHVILLE BASED SINGER/SONGWRITER MELISSA FULLER

AS FINALIST IN WORLDWIDE EMERGING ARTIST COMPETITION

WINNERS TO PERFORM AT OFFICIAL GRAMMY® WEEK EVENT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (January, 18, 2013) – Nashville, TN based singer/songwriter Melissa Fuller has been selected as a top ten finalist for HITLAB’s second annual worldwide Emerging Artist Competition.  The competition, which is a partnership between The Recording Academy® and HITLAB, offers up-and-coming artists or bands the chance to perform February 8, 2013 at the 4^th Annual Social Media Rocks Summit (SMRSS), an official GRAMMY® Week event prior to the prestigious 55^th Annual GRAMMY® Awards held Sunday, February 10, 2013.

A Wyoming native, Melissa Fuller moved to Music City 7 years ago to hone her craft as a songwriter and artist.  A well-seasoned touring artist in her own right, Fuller spent her summers traveling through the west on the rodeo and fair circuit opening for well-known acts like ZZ Top, Toby Keith and Lonestar.

With an upbringing heavily influenced by country music, Fuller’s built-in pop and jazz sensibilities blend a refreshing and memorable artistic offering.  Collaborating with GRAMMY winning producer and engineer Chad Carlson (Taylor Swift, Alison Krauss, Trisha Yearwood) for her 2011 “Crazy Dream” EP, Fuller shines as an unbridled talent willing to venture out across genre lines.  “Melissa knows how to open up her soul and put it to music,” Carlson says.  “Her voice is an addiction I won’t quit.”

In addition to releasing a follow-up project spring of 2013 in the vein of Grace Potter meets Nancy Sinatra, Fuller’s impressive versatility as a songwriter has garnered her collaborations with major label artists and bands ranging in styles from contemporary country to LA rock.  “This opportunity is really a tipping point for me as an artist,” Fuller says.  “The platform that HITLAB brings is tremendous and I would be honored to represent Nashville.”

Three finalists will be fan-voted to perform at the Social Media Rocks Summit during GRAMMY week as well as attend the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards, walk the red carpet and attend the official after-party celebration.  Performances will be streamed live on GRAMMY.com as part of The Academy’s three-day GRAMMY Live coverage.  Fans can vote for their favorite artist at http://contests.hitlab.com/.  Winners will be announced February 4, 2013.
